 Family Portraiture ........ ....and the portrait painting process. This website is for the purpose of showcasing a handful of portraits done over the years, and to show the method I used in creating them. Most of these shown here were painted on cotton or linen canvas using oil paints, turpentine and linseed oil. <>On the portrait process page I attempt to explain the simple production of portrait work, with special emphasis on the initial sketch. For the amateur painter, there is no better escape than the empty canvas with brushes, paints and imagination for tools. For the artist determined to produce a true portrait, it helps to have some guidance along the way.  |
